          San Marcos Civic Center
          The San Marcos  Economic Development Corporation is a non-profit 501(c)6 corporation formed in  1997. This membership driven group brings together the leaders of the public and  private sectors to promote the economic, educational, and cultural interests of  the community of San Marcos. As a leader in the business community, the goal of the SMEDC is to assist in the  sustained growth of the local economy through the attraction, retention and  organic growth of new local businesses. We are here to contribute to the framing  and shaping of the strategic environment in which economic development will  occur in the future.

          Charles P. Zahl
          President (City Appointee)

          Charles has been a co-founder or early executive in several start-up companies over the last 15 years.  Currently, he does business development consulting for start-up companies.  He also currently serves on the San Marcos Budget Review Committee and the General Plan Advisory Committee.

          Chris Williams
          Vice President (At-large Member)
          Chris  works for Colliers International as a commercial real estate broker specializing in office properties in the San Marcos market. Chris has served on the SMEDC Board since 2010.

          Paulette R. Khoury
          Secretary (City Appointee)

          Paulette was appointed by the City and has been on the board since 2009. She owns Pleats Dry Cleaning, with a store in San Marcos. Her background is in public relations and marketing. She received her BA in  Communications from California State University, Fullerton. Her and her husband happily live in San Marcos.

          Peter Q. Schluederberg
          Treasurer (At-large Member)
          Peter and his family have been residents of  San Marcos since 2002.  Peter is an attorney with over 22 years business litigation and insurance coverage experience.  In early 2011, he moved the office of his law firm, PQS LAW, from downtown San Diego to San Marcos. He views San Marcos as the hidden gem of San Diego County and was appointed by the Exectutive Board as an at-large Board member in February 2011.

          Kenneth Dubs, Sr., CCIM
          (City Appointee)
          Ken is President Dubs and Company, Inc.  Ken has 38 years of full time experience in all aspects of real estate specializing in industrial and investment properties. Ken's expertise also includes land, retail, office, development, design, construction, and property management.  Ken serves as the Chairman of the E.D.E Awards Sub-committee.

          Jason Patel
          (City Appointee)
          Jason Patel is Vice  President of Finance for Creative Electron, Inc., a San Marcos based high-tech  company, where he is charged with overseeing all financial and administrative  matters of the organization. He brings with him several years of financial and  accounting expertise from his previous experiences. He is a Certified Public  Accountant (CPA )licensed to practice in the state of California and holds an  MBA in Finance.

          Mike Sannella
          (City Appointee)
          Mike was appointed to the SMEDC Board in January 2011.  Mike works for General Atomics with a background in corporate security and business management.  Mike, a former San Marcos Planning Commissioner, received his B.A. from CSUSM and lives in San Marcos.

          Dick Zohn
          (City Appointee)
          Dick  worked 30 years as a key budget officer for the U.S. Army in Europe. He managed over $1.1B of 
          appropiated funds, distributing and monitoring these funds throughout Europe.

          Jean M. Diaz
          (At-large Member)
          Jean is a resident of San Marcos together with his wife Elizabeth and two sons.  Jean is a 2011 At Large appointee.
          Jean has several years experience with public/private real estate development and public and corporate finance. Jean is currently an agent with New  York Life Insurance Company (Ca Lic 0H40614).

          Kirk Effinger
          (At-large Member)
          Kirk is an Associate with New Century Consulting, a real estate consulting firm specializing in acquisition, development, and forward planning consulting, principally for affordable housing developers. He currently is a member of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. A resident of San Marcos for over 27 years, he has served as chairman of the San Marcos Traffic Safety Commission, co-chaired a school district facilities task force and served on several other boards and commissions. He was appointed to serve on the Board in 2011.

          Regina Eisenbach
          (CSUSM Permanent Member)
          Reginais the Associate Dean in the College of Business Administration at California State University San Marcos.  
          She received her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the University of Miami and has been a faculty member and administrator at CSUSM for 20 years.  She has served on the SMEDC Board since 2008.

          Don Grant, CCIM, SIOR
          (At-large Memeber)
          Don has worked  for Cassidy Turley BRE Commercial as an industrial specialist in the San Marcos  area for over 33 years. As a San Marcos  resident, Don has served on the SMEDC  board since 2009, as a member at large.

          Mollie Smith
          (Palomar College Permanent Member)
          Molly represents the Career, Technical and Extended Education division at Palomar Community College.  Mollie has twenty years experience working in business and industry and has been working in higher education for the past 15 years.
